Getdownwithbeingstrange.braithwaite@hotmail.co.uk Hi there Could you please let me know about any up and coming events in Oxford, we are an accoustic band with plently of songs. any open mic nights or gigs would be brilliant. Thank you Leanne (singer)

A unique venue with one of the best audiences I have ever encountered. No amplification whatsoever, but there is no need as the audience does not make a sound during a performance. Newcomers are made very welcome and the only problem is getting a spot; this place is incredibly popular. Matt Sage is an excellent host and musician and the atmosphere is magic.

I love this place. It feels a bit like stepping back in time to 1969, but the paying and non-playing audience, which usually fills this big room, is young . You will hear poetry, some light-hearted, some deeply moving (even disturbing), traditional folk, original songs, stand-up comedy, totally weird stuff etc. It's all here. The presenter and promoter, Matt, has a unique style and it can only be his expertise which has kept this club successful for well over 10 years. If you want to play then get there early, or contact the club in advance, because it can be very busy. The room is large the audience is silent during performances and very noisy during the applause. The bar is run by members of the club - prices are low.
Silver Sam - Mar 07
