An excellent space for performers and audience alike. I've played it five times now and have yet to be disappointed. The audience is the warmest, most receptive and most generous I have encountered in 40 years plus of doing it. The variety and level of talent is extraordinary for such an event. Most importantly: it provides a platform for very young talent to learn its apprenticeship. The old folk clubs used to do that but they've either disappeared or grown old. Not Goring!
Mike Rowbottom - Mar 11
I played Goring Unplugged earlier this year and had a great time. The atmosphere is great and the audience were very attentive. You couldn't ask for more - highly recommended!
Stephen Baker - Aug 08
Classier than your average open-mic night! An excellent variety of highly talented and grass-roots musicians every month and a respectful audience of music lovers make Goring Unplugged a unique experience...
Keith - Dec 07
The acts at Goring Unplugged vary greatly; some are really entertaining and some are just really talented. I was introduced to it in September and haven't missed one since! Its an unique friendly atmosphere with some fantastic artists. Definately worth a visit!
Oli - Dec 07
And before she reads this and comes round and Throttles me, it's Lu Cozma, not Cosma (I'm always doing this) - Check out her website through the link on the Unplugged site! Sorry Lu!
Mark from Goring Unp - Aug 07
Just a quick note. It says above that we have an open floor. In theory we do, but because we take advance bookings for spots we are almost always solidly booked. If you want to play DO contact us beforehand. We're really looking forward to our Autumn Season. September is already fully booked with: Colin Fletcher & Jane Griffiths, Simon Davies, Simon Classey, Lu Cosma, Sophie Henderson, Anthony Brown, Adam Carpenter Hillary Palmer & Tim Coulson, Lisa Winship, Sophie Henderson, and Khamsina. A very full night! October is filling up fast, so if you'd like to play, let us know!
Mark from Goring Unp - Aug 07
If you like live music you'll enjoy an evening at Goring Unplugged. A variety of acoustic sessions from a huge range of undiscovered talent that range from indifferent to superb yet always fresh, alive and with a passion for music. This eclectic formula can only work live and Goring delivers month after month. History in the making! Come experience Goring Unplugged.
Rob from Reading - Jul 07
An awesome night, fantastic music, fantastic atmosphere. Chris Hawes steals the show!
Izzy from Reading Ju - Jul 07
Take the whole family - I did and they loved it! A great night full of music and wine.
Russell from Banbury - Jul 07
This is an excellent night. You do need to book if you want to play. The standard is generally high, a few beginners and lots of exprerienced performers. The acts are extremely varied - in one night I heard traditional folk, jazz, modern ballads (covers and original) and comic songs (My Bridge of Thighs was followed by someone playing the Hurdy-Gurdy). The audience is highly attentive and appreciative. There is no amplification and it is a very large hall, so you need to sing up! There is no bar so you bring your own drink. Great atmosphere. Try it!
Silver Sam - Mar 07
Goring Unplugged is a really good night, I would recomend everyone to go there if you like a wide variety of music!
